Misty A. Seemans, Esquire, serves as an Adjunct Professor at Delaware Law School as well as Deputy Legal Counsel to Delaware Governor Matt Meyer. Previously, she served as statewide Family Court Supervisor at the Delaware Office of Defense Services (Public Defender’s Office). As a public defender, Misty handled multiple jury and bench trials, ranging from misdemeanors to capital murder.
In addition to teaching at the law school, Misty has taught trial skills through the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) in New York City, Philadelphia, as well as in Lagos, Nigeria. In 2023, The News Journal named Misty as one of the most influential lawyers in Delaware, and she was selected as a Delaware Today magazine Top Lawyer in 2023 and 2024. In 2022, she won the Delaware Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers “Balls of Steel” Award.
Misty graduated cum laude from American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. She received a J.D. and a M.A. in International Affairs. She received a B.A. in Playwriting from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
