Entrance and Exit Counseling

Exit Counseling

For graduating students who received either a Federal Perkins LoanWilliam D. Ford Federal Direct LoanFederal GradPLUS Loan, or Delaware Law Tuition Deferred Loan, an exit interview (financial counseling) is required by federal law.

In-person exit interviews are provided for JD students. The Office of Financial Aid schedules the sessions. Financial counseling provides valuable information about repaying education loans. Students need to bring their driver's license along with the names and addresses of next of kin and contact information for two people to be used as references.

MJ and LEI students may complete the exit counseling requirement online at studentloans.gov . The Financial Aid staff is available after the online session to answer questions or clarify options: 302.477.2272.

Entrance Counseling

Students who receive financial aid at Delaware Law for the first time must complete entrance counseling per federal law. As part of the “Introduction to Law” orientation week, entering students attend a required counseling session; returning students who did not attend the required session during their orientation can contact the Office of Financial Aid for instructions.

Failure to complete entrance counseling results in a hold on loan disbursements.
