Court Interpreter II: Practice and Skills Training

Upon completion of the Language of Justice Court Interpreting Program, students may choose to continue their interpreting lessons to enhance their skills even more in our Court Interpreter II: Practice and Skills Training program.

The Court Interpreter II: Practice and Skills program is designed to improve the interpreter’s performance. Each interpreter will get a chance to identify the aspects of his/her performance in the three modes of interpreting that needs to be improved and find a way to stretch himself/herself. It is a very specific type of work that an interpreter needs to do. This class is a push beyond the current limit. 

In the Court Interpreter II: Practice and Skills Training, students will conduct the following:

  • Deliberate practice defined
  • How to plan and set goals
  • Practice Sight translation
  • Practice Simultaneous
  • Practice Consecutive
  • Overview on note-taking
